All jewellers need to play sometimes. So I love it when someone asks me to make something really quirky and original. Here are some of the things I've tried just for fun.
plate metal necklace
Oxidised silver hand made bead strung on pearl thread; looks fiercer than I expected.
tribal mask tiepin
Influenced by the tribal masks of central Africa. I love the way the silver has oxidised to create a subtle red hue.
brick ring
This ring was made by grinding a finger space through a chunk of brick. I was experimenting with using recycled materials. It was harder to do than it looks.
dung beetle earrings
I found these cast silver dung beetles (expertly made by some unknown jeweller, not me) and made dung balls for them to push, now they're earrings.
dung beetle earring (oxidised)
Sorry - can't resist this:
A dung beetle walks into a bar, and the barman says "Pull up a stool."
silver dragon cup & spoon
I forged this silver cup and set it on small dragons carved first in wax, then cast. The spoon handle has a dragon claw around an orb. We use it to put spices on the table.
